A bit about what we do and why we do it
What to expect
The expected: smart TV, comfortable beds, tea & coffee making facilities, soft towels and sweet smelling soaps in all our rooms.
The unexpected: our quirky approach to decor, our love of storytelling and our enthusiasm to celebrate all that’s weirdly wonderful about Whitby.
Our aim is to provide something a little bit different from the norm. Not just accommodation, but a destination for those looking for the full Whitby experience.
What not to expect
We are not a hotel in the traditional sense. There’s no reception or lift to all floors (if you have mobility issues we may not be the place for you). We don’t provide room service or morning calls. We will be available ‘on line’, but are happy to send you an access code and leave you be in all other respects to make yourselves at home.
We accept dogs in our larger rooms (one dog per stay)
Bed & Breakfast is just the beginning…
All bookings are room only but there’s no need to go hungry; our cafe bar is open from 9am serving breakfasts, brunches, lunches and bar bites, as well as coffees and cocktails. Bloody Mary’s are our speciality or why not try our unique St Hilda Spritz. See full menus on our Cafe Bar page.
Once upon a time…
We love a good story so each of our rooms tells a tale of Whitby folklore, history or legend. There’s lots more to this town than you may think and we want to share some of its hidden gems to those who may be a bit curious to discover more about the jewel of the Yorkshire coast. Our Book of Peculiar Tales is a collection of all 9 of our stories in one handy booklet and can be found in every room for bedtime reading.
